Founder & Lead Counsel
Kenneth R. Munro is the founder and principal attorney at Munro Law Office, P.C. A native Iowan with over 38 years of legal experience, Ken brings unparalleled expertise to both plaintiff and defense litigation matters. His career reflects a deep commitment to diligent representation and the pursuit of justice for his clients.
Ken's legal career spans nearly four decades, establishing him as one of Iowa's most accomplished trial lawyers. Before founding Munro Law Office, P.C. in 2007, he was a partner at the respected Des Moines law firm of Bradshaw, Fowler, Proctor & Fairgrave, P.C., where he spent almost 20 years practicing insurance defense litigation. This extensive background in defense work provides Ken with a unique and balanced perspective that benefits all of his clients.
His decision to establish Munro Law Office, P.C. was driven by a desire to provide personalized, high-quality legal representation to clients throughout Iowa. Drawing from his insurance defense experience, Ken developed an intimate understanding of how defense strategies work and how insurance companies evaluate claims—knowledge that proves invaluable whether representing plaintiffs seeking fair compensation or defendants protecting their interests.
Ken's educational foundation at Notre Dame and the University of Iowa College of Law provided rigorous preparation for a distinguished legal career. His honors graduation from the University of Iowa College of Law signaled early recognition of his legal acumen and dedication to the practice of law.
This extensive trial experience distinguishes Ken from many lawyers and provides his clients with representation from someone who truly understands the dynamics of jury trials, judicial procedures, and the practical realities of resolving civil disputes. Whether pursuing a claim or defending against one, clients benefit from his seasoned courtroom skills and strategic insight developed through decades of trial practice.
Ken has earned an AV rating from peer attorneys through Martindale-Hubbell, a distinction that reflects his professional excellence and ethical standards. This certification is based on anonymous peer review from members of the bar and judiciary, assessing both legal ability and general ethical standards.
Ken has been recognized as a Super Lawyer in General Civil Litigation continuously from 2011 to the present. This honor is bestowed on less than 5% of attorneys in the state and is based on peer nomination, evaluation, and client satisfaction.
Ken is a Fellow with the Iowa Academy of Trial Lawyers, an elite organization whose membership is limited to only 250 attorneys statewide who have demonstrated exceptional skills, the highest integrity, and dedication to trial practice. Membership is by invitation only and requires:
Ken is a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers (ACTL), recognized as the preeminent organization of trial lawyers in North America. The ACTL is dedicated to maintaining and improving the standards of trial practice, professionalism, ethics, and the administration of justice.
Membership is limited to only 1% of the lawyers in the State of Iowa, making this one of the highest professional honors available to trial lawyers.
In addition to his litigation practice, Ken is a certified mediator through the International Academy of Dispute Resolution. This credential reflects his commitment to helping clients resolve disputes efficiently while preserving relationships when possible. His experience in both plaintiff and defense litigation provides mediators and all parties with a balanced perspective and deep understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of civil claims.
Unlike many lawyers who specialize exclusively in either plaintiff or defense work, Ken Munro represents clients on both sides of civil litigation disputes. This dual perspective is a significant advantage for his clients.
When representing a plaintiff seeking compensation for personal injury, motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, or other civil wrongs, Ken understands defense strategy, insurance company evaluation processes, and how opposing counsel will approach the case. When representing defendants, he brings plaintiff's perspective and understanding of what motivates plaintiffs and their lawyers.
This balanced approach provides a more dynamic and strategically sophisticated representation than clients might receive from lawyers with limited experience on one side of litigation. Ken's clients benefit from insights developed through years of viewing civil disputes from multiple angles.
